E pluribus unum. Out of many, one.

This was the Founders’ vision for America: a nation forged from different cultures, countries, creeds and classes – yet unified by a common commitment to freedom, democratic governance and guaranteed individual rights.

We’re dedicated to pursuing that vision: helping to solve America’s great problems and seize America’s greater opportunities through persuasion, research and advocacy.

Protecting Tax Reform

Since the federal government passed historic tax cuts in 2017— which One Nation supported — unemployment hit record lows, wages are rising, and American families have more of their hard-earned money in their pockets.

Yet today, many on the Left are calling for higher taxes to pay for their liberal pipedreams. The Left’s ambitious tax hikes would reverse the progress we have made and jeopardize our strong economy.

Strengthening Our Economy

We need to protect and encourage more real economic growth by passing legislation to make the tax cuts permanent for families. Congress must continue its work for the American people to help families keep more of what they earn and decide how to best spend their own money.

Defending the Courts

As America’s last line of defense against unconstitutional legislative and executive action, the judicial branch must administer justice fairly and impartially. Judicial activism erodes the structure of society by undermining the rule of law.

That is why One Nation supports the appointment of constitutional conservatives to the bench, like Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who will interpret the law as it is written.

Liberals want to expand the Supreme Court and pack it with liberal judges who will help them advance their radical agenda.

One Nation opposes all court-packing schemes and favors a constitutional amendment to fix the size of the Supreme Court at its current size.

Supporting Victims of Sexual Assault

Every 98 seconds, someone is sexually assaulted in the United States, while hundreds of thousands of untested rape kits currently sit in storage facilities across the country. This means that crimes go unsolved and victims are denied justice. Several bills have been introduced in Congress to fund law enforcement efforts and victim services organizations and reduce the rape kit backlog.

We are focused on protecting victims and ensuring that predators are brought to justice

Congress must also ensure federal oversight to protect against assault in primary, secondary, and higher education. We are focused on protecting victims and ensuring that predators are brought to justice.

Our government should be too.

Honoring Our Nations Veterans

The men and women who voluntarily put on the uniform of our Armed Forces and risk their lives in the defense of our nation deserve better. One Nation supports efforts to improve the health care system for veterans and to improve the transition to civilian life.

As one example, Blue Water Navy veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam have fought for decades to receive health benefits. Whether they are suffering from cancer, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, or any other illness caused by Agent Orange, they have earned the care they need.

In June 2018, the House unanimously passed the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act to extend VA benefits to 90,000 Blue Water Navy veterans, however, the bill failed in the Senate.

Congress has another chance this session to do right by those who sacrificed for their nation. We urge them to take it.

Restraining Spending

Our government has a spending problem. Years of out-of-control spending and poor decision making have led us to where we are today: over $22 trillion in debt, with another $1 million being irresponsibly spent every 30 seconds.

In 2018, the federal government spent $4.1 trillion, racking up a deficit of $779 billion. Interest payments on the debt alone accounted for 8 percent ($325 billion) of spending.

The government has not recorded a budget surplus since 2001—18 years ago.

Not surprisingly, when you spend this much money, there is a lot of waste. A report by Sen. Rand Paul documented wasteful spending across the government in 2018.

This spending included

$76M
soldiers in the Somali National Army
$18M
support Egyptian tourism
$2.5M
study daydreaming
$900K
study sexual habits of quail on cocaine

One Nation calls on both Congress and the Executive Branch to carefully oversee government agency spending decisions.

Our interest payments on the debt alone account for 8% ($325 billion) of all spending

The President’s budget proposal for FY 2020 would put us on that path. It calls for $2.7 trillion in spending cuts and would erase the deficit over 15 years. The House, however, refused to even propose a budget, and instead proposed legislation to increase spending by more than $350 billion by 2021.

This is not right, and it does nothing but exacerbate the problem, placing tremendous financial burden on future generations.

One Nation urges Congress to take its budgeting process more seriously. Hard choices need to be made, and we must get back to spending within our means to balance the budget.
