E pluribus unum. Out of many, one.

This was the Founders’ vision for America: a nation forged from different cultures, countries, creeds and classes – yet unified by a common commitment to freedom, democratic governance and guaranteed individual rights.

We’re dedicated to pursuing that vision: helping to solve America’s great problems and seize America’s greater opportunities through persuasion, research and advocacy.

Fighting Socialism

Individual liberty, limited government, private property, and federalism— these foundational American principles face an existential threat from an increasingly extreme, progressive liberal agenda, best described as Socialism. This is not scare-mongering or name-calling—it is simply descriptive of what liberals are fervently embracing.

Man holding flag

Every day the Left proposes a new fringe policy proposal, with each one being more radical than the last. Their goal is to dramatically expand the federal government’s control over broad swaths of the U.S. economy and private activity, reach and restrict Americans’ ability to enjoy their personal freedoms.

This is the very essence of Socialism.

$93 Trillionin Socialist climate change policies

Green New Deal

The Green New Deal uses climate change as a pretext to pass Socialist policies, and could cost up to $93 trillion. It calls for, among other things, guaranteed economic security for those unwilling to work, guaranteed jobs to those who want them, replacing every building and structure in the country to meet energy efficiency standards, massive government investment in favored special interests and businesses, and getting rid of airplanes and even farting cows.

The government would seize control over major sectors of the economy in an attempt to provide “health care, housing, economic security, and clean air, clean water, healthy food, and nature to all.”

One Nation opposes the “Green New Deal” and S.J. Res. 8.

"Medicare for None"

would ALL lose control of their health insurance

Medicare for All

Medicare for All would be more like Medicare for None. It would end Medicare, TRICARE, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program as we know them and outlaw essentially all private health insurance. Everyone—seniors, children, military members, and millions of veterans included—would lose control of their health insurance by being kicked off their current plans and placed into a government-run, single-payer system.

Independent analysts estimate such a scheme would cost $32 trillion over ten years, and 71 percent of Americans with private insurance would pay more than they do today. Furthermore, the economic disruption of outlawing private insurance would be catastrophic, as two million Americans would lose their jobs, and the value of millions of Americans’ retirement savings accounts would plummet.

Independent analysts estimate such a scheme
would cost $32 trillion

How will the government pay for all of this?

With tax increases on all Americans. Not even doubling all federal individual and corporate income taxes would raise enough money to pay for Medicare for All, let alone the Green New Deal.

One Nation opposes “Medicare for All” in all its incarnations, including S. 1129.

Stopping The Left's Constitutional Power Grab

The Left is not only proposing Socialist policies that would devastate our country, but they seek to make fundamental changes to how our nation’s Constitution and democratic institutions function, all aimed at locking in their radical policy views.

These plans include:

Asbolishing the Electoral College

which would empower large liberal states on the coasts at the expense of smaller, more rural states in Middle America

Blowing Up Senate Rules

by eliminating longstanding protections for minority viewpoints

Packing the Supreme Court

with additional justices in order to put more liberals on the bench

Allowing Convicted Felons to Vote

even while in prison

The Left is seeking to fundamentally change our Constitution and democracy to benefit their own agenda

How Liberals Are Locking in a Majority

For a more detailed discussion of the Left’s plan to remake American government, see this Wall Street Journal article written by One Nation’s President, Steven Law

“… changing policy is not enough; they must change the rules of the game to cement their control …”

One Nation strongly opposes these assaults on the cornerstones of our democracy and constitutional order.

Protecting Tax Reform

Since the federal government passed historic tax cuts in 2017— which One Nation supported — unemployment hit record lows, wages are rising, and American families have more of their hard-earned money in their pockets.

Yet today, many on the Left are calling for higher taxes to pay for their liberal pipedreams. The Left’s ambitious tax hikes would reverse the progress we have made and jeopardize our strong economy.

Strengthening Our Economy

We need to protect and encourage more real economic growth by passing legislation to make the tax cuts permanent for families. Congress must continue its work for the American people to help families keep more of what they earn and decide how to best spend their own money.

Defending the Courts

As America’s last line of defense against unconstitutional legislative and executive action, the judicial branch must administer justice fairly and impartially. Judicial activism erodes the structure of society by undermining the rule of law.

That is why One Nation supports the appointment of constitutional conservatives to the bench, like Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who will interpret the law as it is written.

Liberals want to expand the Supreme Court and pack it with liberal judges who will help them advance their radical agenda.

Securing the Border

Facing an immigration crisis on our southern border, our government must allocate additional funding to provide adequate security. Border walls, barriers, and fences are not new and have been a bipartisan policy solution, until recently.

2006
80 senators
(54 GOP, 26 Democrat)

voted to build 700 miles of border barriers

2013
68 senators
(52 GOP, 15 Democrat)

voted to build 700 miles of fencing and replace existing barriers

Whichever term you use to define them—walls, barriers, or fences—they have helped protect America’s territorial integrity since the early 1990s, and have resulted in massive drops in illegal traffic

While $1.4 billion has been approved to begin constructing a border wall, much more than funding is needed to secure the border. To that end, Congress must close immigration loopholes like catch-and-release and crack down on sanctuary cities that release criminal illegal immigrants back onto the streets instead of handing them over to ICE.

Congress should also examine the abuses of our generous asylum laws and provide the tools and resources to prevent the widespread fraud that makes a mockery of this important humanitarian program.

Congress must close immigration loopholes and crack down on sanctuary cities that release criminal illegal immigrants back onto the streets

Border security and immigration reform are difficult issues, but no solution will ever emerge without a societal consensus that we must have secure borders and must be governed here, as in all things, by the rule of law.

One Nation supports legislative and executive action to strengthen America’s borders and enforcement of our immigration laws.

Supporting Victims of Sexual Assault

Every 98 seconds, someone is sexually assaulted in the United States, while hundreds of thousands of untested rape kits currently sit in storage facilities across the country. This means that crimes go unsolved and victims are denied justice. Several bills have been introduced in Congress to fund law enforcement efforts and victim services organizations and reduce the rape kit backlog.

We are focused on protecting victims and ensuring that predators are brought to justice

Congress must also ensure federal oversight to protect against assault in primary, secondary, and higher education. We are focused on protecting victims and ensuring that predators are brought to justice.

Honoring Our Nations Veterans

The men and women who voluntarily put on the uniform of our Armed Forces and risk their lives in the defense of our nation deserve better. One Nation supports efforts to improve the health care system for veterans and to improve the transition to civilian life.

As one example, Blue Water Navy veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam have fought for decades to receive health benefits. Whether they are suffering from cancer, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, or any other illness caused by Agent Orange, they have earned the care they need.

In June 2018, the House unanimously passed the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act to extend VA benefits to 90,000 Blue Water Navy veterans, however, the bill failed in the Senate.

Congress has another chance this session to do right by those who sacrificed for their nation. We urge them to take it.

Restraining Spending

Our government has a spending problem. Years of out-of-control spending and poor decision making have led us to where we are today: over $22 trillion in debt, with another $1 million being irresponsibly spent every 30 seconds.

$22 Trillion

in national debt

$1 Million

spent every 30 seconds

In 2018, the federal government spent $4.1 trillion, racking up a deficit of $779 billion. Interest payments on the debt alone accounted for 8 percent ($325 billion) of spending.

The government has not recorded a budget surplus since 2001—18 years ago.

Not surprisingly, when you spend this much money, there is a lot of waste. A report by Sen. Rand Paul documented wasteful spending across the government in 2018.

This spending included

$76M
soldiers in the Somali National Army
$18M
support Egyptian tourism
$2.5M
study daydreaming
$900K
study sexual habits of quail on cocaine

One Nation calls on both Congress and the Executive Branch to carefully oversee government agency spending decisions.

Our interest payments on the debt alone account for 8% ($325 billion) of all spending

The President’s budget proposal for FY 2020 would put us on that path. It calls for $2.7 trillion in spending cuts and would erase the deficit over 15 years. The House, however, refused to even propose a budget, and instead proposed legislation to increase spending by more than $350 billion by 2021.

This is not right, and it does nothing but exacerbate the problem, placing tremendous financial burden on future generations.

One Nation urges Congress to take its budgeting process more seriously. Hard choices need to be made, and we must get back to spending within our means to balance the budget.
