One Nation is launching a new $1 million digital advocacy effort in Arizona today challenging Senator Mark Kelly to take a stand on the filibuster like his colleague, Senator Kyrsten Sinema. Read about the new advocacy effort in The Hill.
Last night, Senator Sinema wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post reiterating her support for the filibuster, saying: “My support for retaining the 60-vote threshold is not based on the importance of any particular policy. It is based on what is best for our democracy. The filibuster compels moderation and helps protect the country from wild swings between opposing policy poles.”
The new One Nation advertisement, titled “Rocket Science,” compares and contrasts Senator Kelly’s filibuster stance – or lack thereof – with Senator Sinema’s. Watch the spot here.
“Mark Kelly has been a U.S. Senator for months, but still doesn’t believe he owes Arizonans a straight answer on this important issue. This isn’t rocket science – it’s time for Senator Kelly to tell us whether he stands with liberals who would end the filibuster to ram through far-left policies, or whether he stands with leaders in Arizona’s moderate, independent tradition like Senators Kyrsten Sinema and John McCain.” -One Nation President Steven Law
This is not One Nation’s first spending in Arizona on this issue. Last month, One Nation launched a $1.85 million advocacy effort across five states, including Arizona, opposing H.R. 1 and supporting keeping the Senate filibuster intact.
