One Nation Applauds Senator Manchin for Opposing Reckless $1.75 Trillion Spending Bill

December 19, 2021

One Nation applauded Senator Joe Manchin (WV) for announcing his opposition to congressional liberals’ reckless $1.75 trillion spending bill experts worry would make inflation worse. According to Politico:

The West Virginia Democrat bluntly said he is a “no” on the $1.7 trillion in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

“If I can’t go home and explain to the people of West Virginia, I can’t vote for it. And I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I can’t get there,” Manchin said. “This is a no on this piece of legislation. I have tried everything I know to do.”

In announcing his opposition, Manchin raised the same concerns about the bill that he’s had all along: inflation, rising debt and a mismatch between the package’s 10-year funding and its shorter-term programs.

“Senator Manchin did the right thing by refusing to cave to liberals in Congress who are hell-bent on spending recklessly even as Americans cope with inflation eating away at their bank accounts. The spending in this bill was indefensible and Senator Manchin deserves credit for his opposition in the face of an unprecedented pressure campaign.” -One Nation President Steven Law

One Nation invested $10 million in advocacy against the spending bill, including a second tranche of $4.2 million announced earlier this month calling on Senators to stop consideration of the bill during a period of high inflation.
