WASHINGTON, DC —One Nation, a public policy advocacy organization dedicated to breaking through the partisan gridlock in Washington, today issued the following statement from Legislative Director Neil Bradley on the Senate’s vote to invoke cloture on the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA):
“For the families and communities across this country ravaged by the opioid epidemic, today’s Senate action on the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) is welcome news.
“While local officials and community groups are on the front lines, the federal government has a critical supporting role to play. That is why over 130 anti-drug groups have endorsed this legislation. This is how Washington is supposed to work; elected officials coming together on a bipartisan basis to advance practical solutions.
“We especially want to thank Senators Portman, Ayotte, Whitehouse and Klobuchar for their efforts and look forward to the passage of CARA in the Senate and then the House of Representatives.”
